The PACE Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development, in co-operation with the Dutch delegation to PACE, will be holding a parliamentary seminar in The Hague on 5 March on “The role of the Dutch parliament in protecting the right to a healthy environment”.

This seminar aims to raise awareness of the importance of adopting legal and political measures for the protection of the right to a healthy environment at national level, and to support Dutch parliamentarians in their efforts to ensure follow-up to the various measures called for in PACE Resolution 2545 (2024). Discussion will also focus on the impact of climate and environmental litigation on policy decision-making.

It will bring together parliamentarians and staff members of the competent committees of the Dutch Parliament as well as national lawyers and civil society representatives. PACE parliamentarians and national and international experts will also contribute to the discussion.

The event will take place on Wednesday 5 March from 9 am to 1 pm at the Dutch House of Representatives. The meeting with the Members of the House of Representatives from 9.30 am to 11.00 am will be livestreamed via this link.
