The Committee on social affairs, health and sustainable development has expressed s its profound sorrow over the tragic accident on the Elevador da Glória in Lisbon, which claimed the lives of 16 people (including foreign nationals) and left many others injured.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and convey our sincere wishes for the full and swift recovery of those who were wounded.
We stand in solidarity with the City of Lisbon, with Portugal, and with its citizens, and we gratefully acknowledge the efforts of the emergency services, medical teams, and all professionals who responded with courage and dedication in the face of this tragedy.
In memory of the Portuguese and international victims, the Committee honours their lives and reaffirms its unwavering commitment to compassion, unity, and resilience".
