The Assembly,

Having regard to the number of Polish students desirous of studying at Western universities; and considering that, in principle, they are no longer prevented from so doing by political obstacles, but by lack of currency;

Considering that it is incumbent upon the member countries of the Council of Europe to demonstrate their solidarity with the peoples of Eastern Europe,

Recommends to the Committee of Ministers :

1 that they urge the Governments of Member States to make available to Polish students as many bursaries as possible at one or other of the higher educational establishments in their countries;

2 that in due course they inform the Assembly of any measures taken in pursuance of this Recommendation.
