The Assembly,
Anticipating the forthcoming entry into force of the Treaty setting up a European Economic Community;
Taking into account the fact that the sea fishing industry and trade in products of that industry will be governed by the Treaty provisions on agriculture, and that, as a result, the common policy of the European Economic Community will include fisheries and fishery products;
Considering the numerous and varied problems to which the fish market gives rise in European economy;
Considering, too, the need to provide for the setting up of a European Economic Association, which will also be concerned with fishery and the fish market
Recommends that the Committee of Ministers invite Member Governments concerned with the fishing industry or with the export or import of its products to give urgent joint consideration to the present situation in regard to sea fisheries and to conclude an agreement with a view to bringing about suitable improvements therein.
