Convening of a third Seminar on International Voluntary Service

The Assembly,
1. Recalling the texts it previously adopted on international voluntary service, the most recent of which were
Recommendation 486 (1967) and
Resolution 340 (1967), relating to the 2nd Seminar (October 1966), on the role of non-governmental organisations in African development, and its instruction to the Social Committee to make proposals to it for the organisation of a 3rd Seminar on International Voluntary Service ;
2. Having regard to the success of the seminars already held, which were arranged in co-operation with the Regional Conference on International Voluntary Service ;
3. Having regard to the report of the Social Committee (
Doc. 2264),
4. Resolves to hold in Strasbourg from 4th to 8th November 1968 a 3rd Seminar on International Voluntary Service, on the theme of "Co-operation in economic and social development : responsibility of trade unions, co-operatives, voluntary agencies and industrial and commercial enterprise in developing countries" ;
5. Instructs its President to invite the appropriate organisations to take part in the Seminar ;
6. Instructs the Secretary General to make all the necessary organisational arrangements for the Seminar in co-operation with the Committee of the Regional Conference on International Voluntary Service.
