The Assembly,
1. Having regard to the report of the Committee on Rules of Procedure (
Doc. 2857) on the composition and powers of the Bureau of the Assembly which was prepared after consultation with the Bureau,
2. Considers that the regulations governing the functions of the Bureau and the Standing Committee are satisfactory ;
3. Welcomes the Bureau's practice of inviting to its meetings, on an ad hoc basis, other members of the Assembly, and in particular the Chairmen of committees, political groups and national delegations ;
4. Considers, however, that the Bureau would be more representative if two additional Vice-Presidents were appointed and national delegations each had an opportunity of taking part in the proceedings of the Bureau more frequently ;
5. Resolves, consequently, to amend the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly as follows :
a Rule 8, paragraph 1 : delete "eight" and insert "ten" ;
b Rule 9, paragraph 6 : delete "eight" and insert "ten" ;
c Rule 42, paragraph 2 : delete "eight" and insert "ten" ;
6. Resolves that these amendments shall enter into force at the beginning of the 23rd Session of the Assembly.
