The Parliamentary Assembly underscores the persistence of gender-based violence against women, exacerbated by historical inequalities and facilitated by digital technologies. It reaffirms the critical role of the Istanbul Convention in setting comprehensive standards for prevention, protection, prosecution, and policy-making, emphasising victims' rights. The Assembly celebrates the convention’s positive impact since its entry into force, while calling for counteraction against disinformation campaigns and renewed ratification, particularly urging Türkiye’s re-engagement. Further, it advocates for the application of an intersectional approach, enhanced data collection, and education to prevent gender-based violence, while stressing the need to involve men and boys as agents of change. Recommendations include legislative developments, support for civil society, and stringent measures to combat online violence against women. The Assembly calls for member states' active promotion and legislative alignment with the Istanbul Convention’s standards to ensure a life free from violence for all women and girls.
