The Assembly instructs its Committees to study ways and means of improving the condition of displaced persons in Europe and in particular of providing, for those who are unable to. help themselves, a legal status and a material situation which shall show due respect for their freedom and dignity.
It asks that the Secretariat of the Council of Europe be instructed to prepare a practical solution and that it should, to this end, maintain with the countries of Europe the necessary contacts to keep its information up to date and to follow the efforts being made to settle the problem.
It hopes that the President will show a special interest in this unhappy situation, which is a challenge to the conscience of Europe, and. pledges him all its moral support in the action which he may take in order to remedy it.
