The Assembly resolves to recommend strongly to representatives from the countries participating in the European Economic Community that they should impress on their parliaments the importance of ensuring identity of membership between the parliamentary delegations to the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe and the parliamentary delegations to the Assembly of the European Economic Community, particularly in view of the fact that the countries which are not members of the European Economic Community have been invited to join the Community or to associate themselves with a Free Trade Area and that close co-operation between the countries inside and outside the European Economic Community is vitally important for the unification of Europe.
