In my country, Portugal, the fertility rate is only 1.4 children per woman, far below the replacement level. If we really want demographic renewal, we must make family a priority again. Young people need affordable housing, lower taxes for families, better parental leave and real support to have the children they want. But being family-friendly must mean more than financial support.
