Strasbourg 03.06.2008 – The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is due to hold an urgent debate on “the functioning of democratic institutions in Turkey” on Thursday 26 June 2008 during the Assembly’s forthcoming plenary session (23-27 June 2008).
The proposal to hold an urgent debate on this topic, made at the initiative of the heads of the Assembly’s five political groups, was approved by the PACE Bureau during its recent meeting in Stockholm on 29 May. However a final decision on the agenda is only taken by the Assembly itself on the first day of the session.
