“The crisis has imposed an enormous social cost: this is not just one more crisis”, highlighted OECD Secretary General Ángel Gurría, while addressing the Parliamentary Assembly on Tuesday.
“This pain has eroded the people’s confidence in their governments’ capacities, raising questions of legitimacy”, continued the former Mexico’s Minister of Finance and Public Credit.
After six years of financial turmoil, Gurría also underlined how the foundations of the institutional social contract need to be restored, proposing a revision of procedures and policy recommendations at OECD and at the Council of Europe."
