Kristýna Zelienková (Czech Republic, ALDE), currently on a fact-finding visit to Ukraine to discuss prospects for peace and stability, calls for the urgent creation of a green corridor, for a period of several days, in order to evacuate 5 000 civilians, including women, children and the disabled, from Debaltsevo where, despite the recent ceasefire, intensive fighting continues. The Rapporteur paid tribute to leading Ukrainian voluntary organisations, which have been very active in the field.
Ms Zelienková, rapporteur for the Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), will raise this issue during upcoming meetings with President Poroshenko and Prime Minister Yatseniuk, as well as the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman.
