Kristýna Zelienková (Czech Republic, ALDE), rapporteur on the political consequences of the crisis in Ukraine for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), started today a fact-finding visit to Ukraine until 11 September, in the framework of the preparation of her report.
Discussions will mainly focus on the political stability in the country, in particular the progress made in the preparation of the forthcoming local elections and relevant constitutional reforms, as well as in the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Ms Zelienková will also raise the issue of the progress in economic reforms.
In Kyiv, Ms Zelienková is due to meet the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, representatives of different parliamentary groups, and the Ukrainian delegation to PACE. Talks are also planned with representatives of civil society, and the international and diplomatic community.
In L’viv, the rapporteur will meet the governor, the Chairman of the regional Rada, representatives of the Mayor Administration, NGOs, and students of L’viv Polytechnic National University.
She will also travel to Odessa, where she will have meetings with the governor, the Chairman of the regional Rada, the Mayor, civil society and UNHCR representatives.
Last February, in addition to Kyiv, Ms Zelienková visited the eastern part of the country, namely Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Severodonetsk.
