War against Ukraine and the coming Summit the focus of PACE President’s working visit to France

Meeting at the National Assembly

Tiny Kox, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), paid a working visit to France on 22 March 2023, during which he discussed the current challenges linked to the war of aggression waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, and its consequences, as well as the prospects for the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government, to be held in Reykjavik on 16-17 May 2023.

During meetings with French Senate President Gérard Larcher, National Assembly President Yaël Braun-Pivet, the Secretary of State for Europe Laurence Boone, and the President and members of the French delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly, other issues discussed included the need to support multilateralism, strengthen the impact of the Istanbul Convention, and reinforce the role of parliamentary diplomacy in resolving conflicts.

President Kox also thanked the French delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly - and its President Bertrand Bouyx - for their very active and positive contribution to the Assembly's work.
