The Assembly,
Whereas the Hague Conference on International Private Law, during its Eighth Session, drafted a Convention on the law applicable to maintenance allowances for children ;
Whereas the Convention has, since 24th October 1956, remained open to signature by the States represented at this Eighth Session, these including all Member States of the Council of Europe with the exception of Ireland and Iceland ;
Whereas the purpose of this Convention is to reduce as far as possible the cases where a dispute arises concerning maintenance allowances for children,
Recommends that the Committee of Ministers :
