The Assembly,
Considering that certain medical circles believe that smokers are particularly subject to throat and lung cancer;
Having learned that the Platt Commission has carried out an important study on this subject in the United Kingdom;
Having regard to the fact that similar studies are in progress in several Council of Europe countries;
In view of the concern aroused among the general public by such investigations,
Instructs the Social Committee to look into the matter and to submit a report on it at the earliest possible date.
