The Assembly,
1. Recalling the principles set out in its Recommendation 916 (1981), on the conference on "Defence of democracy against terrorism in Europe - Tasks and problems" ;
2. Pending a reply from the Committee of Ministers to its proposals set out in the recommendation, that a Study and Documentation Centre on the causes, prevention and suppression of terrorism should be set up,
3. Calls on its Political Affairs Committee, Legal Affairs Committee and Committee on Culture and Education to continue to work with and consult persons and institutions which took part in the conference, including those from countries which are not members of the Council of Europe ;
4. Resolves to consult the principal press organs in member countries on their attitude towards the question of responsibilities and duties of the mass media in combating terrorism ;
5. Invites the Political Affairs Committee to keep the question of the defence of democracy against terrorism in Europe as an item on its agenda.
