The Assembly,

1. Regretting the decision of its Bureau of 10 September 1982 to take no action on the motion for a recommendation on the preparation of a code of professional ethics for the armed forces (Doc. 4719) (see progress report of the Bureau, the Standing Committee and the Committee on Parliamentary and Public Relations, Doc. 4962, paragraph 43) ;

2. Considering that this question is of great importance and that the competent committee of the Assembly should at least investigate the matter,

3. Instructs its Legal Affairs Committee to consider the possibility of drafting a European code of professional ethics for the armed forces, taking into account the motion for a recommendation mentioned above, and to report back if it deems fit to do so.
