Reply to the Report on the activities of the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration

Resolution 42 (1953)

Author(s):
Parliamentary Assembly
Origin
This Resolution was adopted by the Assembly as its twenty-fifth Sitting, on 26th September, 1953 (see Doc. 217, Report of the Committee on Population and Refugees).

The Assembly has taken note with particular satisfaction of the Report on the Activities of the Inter-Governmental Committee for European Migration. It desires to thank the Committee for communicating this Report, which has enabled the Assembly to appreciate the work accomplished by the Committee in the field of overseas emigration since 1st February, 1952.

The Assembly wishes to stress once again the importance which it attaches to the work of the Committee, whose achievements it follows with the greatest interest. It hopes that the new Constitution with which the Committee has been endowed will give it fresh opportunity to increase and extend the migratory movements.

The Assembly is aware of the difficulties in the way of any large-scale increase in these movements, but it has every confidence in the Committee and is convinced that the latter will succeed in its appointed task.
