The Assembly,

Having examined the proposal, submitted to it by the Committee of Ministers at the meeting of the Joint Committee on 25th March 1957, that both organs of the Council of Europe should increase their membership of the Joint Committee from 7 to 8,

1. Agrees with the proposal of the Committee of Ministers ;
2. Resolves therefore to amend Rule 46 to read as follows :
2.1 The Joint Committee shall consist of 8 representatives of the Committee of Ministers and 8 representatives of the Assembly, including the President of the Assembly. For the discussion of a particular question, the membership of the Committee may be increased by mutual agreement.
2.2 The President of the Assembly shall act ex officio as Chairman of the Joint Committee. The seven other representatives of the Assembly shall be appointed by the Standing Committee from among its members."
