The Assembly,

Recalling its Recommendation 518 (1968) and the report by the Committee on Agriculture on which it was based (Doc. 2310) ;

Welcoming the positive action taken by the Committee of Ministers on this recommendation, as set forth in its Communication of 10 January 1969 (Doc. 2495) ;

Having examined the 1st progress report of the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (Doc. 2488),

Reiterates its hope that governments of member states not parties to the Agreement of 21 May 1962 will associate themselves with the activities of the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies by giving technical assistance and by endowing it with a number of annual scholarships ;

Notes with satisfaction that the concerns which it expressed are largely met by the information given in the first progress report of the Centre ;

Considers however that :

1 the Centre's next progress report should include a detailed statement of its budgetary resources, making particular mention of the number and value of the scholarships provided by the various international organisations and foundations ;

2 the Advisory Board, in accordance with the terms of the agreement setting up the Centre, should meet at least once a year and be associated with the management of the Centre by giving its opinion inter alia on the intended tuition reforms and on ways in which the Centre is to expand ;

Resolves to be represented on the Centre's Advisory Board by one or more members of its Committee on Agriculture.
