The Committee of Ministers thanks the Honourable parliamentarian for her question and the additional information provided. It has also received information from the Spanish government on the events referred to in the written question indicating in particular that some 40 police officers have been charged with excessive use of force in relation to the events in Catalonia of 1 October 2017. The Committee of Ministers notes that the Spanish judicial authorities are thus investigating and prosecuting alleged illegal or disproportionate police activity. It further notes that any person alleging to be a victim of a violation of a right enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights has the possibility to submit an application to the European Court of Human Rights once domestic remedies have been exhausted. In the light of the above, the Committee of Ministers sees no need for any further action.
