The resolution highlights the severe and ongoing suffering of children subjected to various forms of abuse in settings that should provide safety, including orphanages, schools, and religious institutions. It calls for member States to take decisive actions, such as acknowledging past abuses, ensuring accountability for perpetrators, providing adequate compensation to victims, and implementing comprehensive prevention measures. The Assembly also encourages the European Union and Morocco to join the Lanzarote Convention to strengthen protections for children's rights and combat violence against children.
