The Parliamentary Assembly expresses serious concerns regarding the democratic backsliding in Georgia, particularly following the parliamentary elections on 26 October 2024, which raised doubts about their fairness and legitimacy. The Assembly condemns human rights abuses, including police violence against demonstrators, and calls for urgent reforms to restore trust in political institutions. While ratifying the credentials of the Georgian delegation, the Assembly insists on immediate actions from the Georgian authorities to engage all stakeholders in addressing electoral deficiencies, resume the European integration process, and uphold human rights. The Assembly also suspends certain rights of the Georgian delegation members as a response to ongoing abuses, with a commitment to reassess the situation in April 2025 based on progress made.
