The Assembly,
Having considered the draft European Social Charter prepared by the Committee on Social Questions, which includes proposals for the creation of a European Economic and Social Council (Doc. 403);
Having considered the communication of October 15th from the Chairman of the Committee on Economic Questions, underlining the important economic implications involved ;
Considering the request of the Committee of Ministers that the Assembly's proposals should be transmitted to the governmental Social Committee before their final adoption;
Welcoming this method of collaboration between the two organs of the Council on condition that it involves joint discussion and not merely the transmission of documents,
1. Instructs the Committee on Economic Questions to examine the proposals of the Committee on Social Questions at a meeting attended by representatives of the latter;
2. Instructs the Committee on Social Questions to examine such amendments as may be proposed by the Committee on Economic Questions at a meeting attended by representatives of the latter;
3. Instructs the two Committees to appoint representatives to discuss their joint proposals with the governmental Social Committee ;
4. Retains the draft Social Charter and the proposals for the creation of an Economic and Social Council on the agenda of the Assembly for further examination during the first part of the Eighth Ordinary Session.
