The Assembly,
1. Recalling its Recommendation
1080 (1988) on a co-ordinated European health policy
to prevent the spread of AIDS in prisons;
2. Aware of the enormous scope of the problems caused by AIDS,
which impinge upon many aspects of society;
3. Considering that the Assembly should play an active and leading
role in finding solutions to these various problems, in conformity
with the general aims of the Council of Europe,
4. Accordingly instructs its Social and Health Affairs Committee:
a to continue to monitor actively
the various developments concerning AIDS, particularly the inter-relationship
between AIDS and the misuse of drugs;
b to report back to the Assembly at regular intervals.
