Explanatory note

Religious rights and freedoms of the Turkish Muslim Minority in Western Thrace are under the guarantee of relevant bilateral and international agreements. Hence, no interference with the religious affairs of the Minority is acceptable, including the right to elect the religious leaders, namely Muftis.
