"Exactly 75 years after the end of the Second World War, this Assembly wishes to pay explicit tribute to the Allied Forces that liberated Europe from Nazism and later Communism. This Assembly also applauds the wisdom and courage of the Founding Fathers of the Council of Europe and pledges never to betray the trust invested upon their successors by respecting and upholding at all times the Statute of the Council of Europe."
