In the draft resolution, after paragraph 14.3, insert the following paragraph:

"online platforms to preserve content, and the metadata associated with this content, that potentially could provide evidence of war crimes and human rights violations".

Explanatory note

The role of journalists, the media, social media, human rights activists and ordinary citizens is huge in collecting, preserving and verifying open-source information related to the war crimes. States should ensure that this evidence does not just disappear under companies' terms and conditions, whilst balancing protective safeguards.
