Investigation of the possibility of co-ordination among the national institutions of the member countries of the Council of Europe concerned with social research, and of the application of such research, particularly in backward areas within the competence of those institutions
The Assembly,
Considering that there are in various member countries of the Council of Europe institutions whose object is to study living conditions, more particularly in backward areas ;
Considering that it is important to encourage the exchange of ideas and experience gained in the course of social research of this kind such as might form the basis of efforts at co-ordination with due regard to the interests of individuals, families and to those of social groups as a whole;
Considering that, in order that this task may be carried out efficiently, it is necessary to make a prior study of the social background to obtain such detailed information as would lead to a method of research giving particular attention to man as an individual and to the family as such,
Decides to include in its Agenda the following question : ::
" Investigation of the possibility of co-ordination among the national institutions of the member countries of the Council of Europe concerned with social research, and of the application of such research, particular in backward areas within the competence of those institutions ",
and instructs the Committee on Social Questions to study this question and report to the Assembly thereon.
