The Assembly,
Considering that the use of nuclear energy and radio isotopes will undoubtedly increase as time goes on ;
Considering that, as a result, the number of workers employed in the nuclear generation of electricity and using radio isotopes will increase rapidly in the coming years ;
Considering that the study of measures essential to the protection of such workers against accidents liable to result should be undertaken forthwith;
Considering that the generation of such electricity and use of radio isotopes will raise problems of a new kind and of ever-widening social implications;
Considering that it behoves the Council of Europe to foresee these developments,
Instructs its Social Committee to undertake at the earliest possible opportunity the study of problems arising from the generation of such electricity and use of radio isotopes, with particular reference to the protection and safety of workers.
