Effects on agricultural produce of radio-activity caused by nuclear explosions The Assembly, Considering the dangers of contamination of agricultural produce through radio-active fall-out caused by nuclear explosions, disposal of industrial radio-active wastes and possible accidents ; Considering the report by Lord Stonehaven on the effects of radio-activity (Doc. 1522) ; Being of the opinion that this danger could increase in the future ; Being aware of the need to have plans ready which could be immediately implemented to protect the food supplies of member States and to protect and reassure the populations of those States, Instructs its Committee on Agriculture : 1. to keep it informed of any protective measures adopted by member States and of the results of research carried out ; 2. to suggest any procedure leading to the elimination of the dangers arising from the effects of radio-activity on agricultural products. |
