Parliamentary Assembly
Origin
Assembly debate on 17th September 1960 (17th Sitting) (see Docs. 1154Docs. 1154, First Report of the Administrative Board of the Cultural Fund, and Doc. 1182, Report of the Cultural Committee). Text adopted by the Assembly on 27th September 1960 (17th Sitting).

The Assembly,

Having taken note of the first report of the Cultural Fund of the Council of Europe;

Sharing the opinion of the Administrative Board of the Cultural Fund that "not only the volume of the Fund's future activities but,to some extent, the breadth of its horizons depend on the success of fund-raising activities in the member countries";

Noting that under Article IV, paragraph 1, (b), of the Statute of the Fund it is open to Governments to make voluntary contributions to the Fund, in addition to the basic contributions which they have already pledged;

Having been informed that several Governments have already declared their intention to make a voluntary contribution to the Fund in 1960,

Recommends to the Committee of Ministers that it should, in accordance with Article 15, paragraph (b) of the Statute, recommend to all member Governments that they should take advantage of the opportunity provided by Article IV, paragraph 1 (b), of the Statute of the Cultural Fund to increase the resources of the Fund by voluntary contributions.
