Recommendation 270 (1960)

Author(s):
Parliamentary Assembly
Origin
Assembly debate on 29th September 1960 (20th Sitting) (see Doc. 1208, Report of the Legal Committee). Text adopted by the Assembly on 29th September 1960 (20th Sitting).

The Assembly,

Having regard to the fact that the co-operation between the Council of Europe and the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law has achieved valuable results in the field of the unification and harmonisation of the rules of private law, evidence of which can be found in the Institute's two reports to the Assembly (Documents 817 and 1166) and in the latter's replies (Resolutions 154 and 190);

Convinced that it is in the interest of member States of the Council of Europe that this co-operation should continue on a satisfactory basis;

Considering that all member States benefit from this co-operation but that the member Governments other than the Italian Government contribute only a negligible share to the Institute's expenditure,

Recommends to the Committee of Ministers that it should, in accordance with Article 15 (b) of the Statute, recommend to member Governments that they should examine the possibility of increasing their financial contributions to the work of the Institute.
