The Assembly,

1. Having noted the interest aroused in professional circles by the first European Conference of National Associations concerned with wine, spirits, beer, cider and other fermented beverages, which took place in April 1960;
2. Noting that the number of persons attending the second Conference held recently was double that of the first; that, furthermore, the Associations have expressed satisfaction at being able, thanks to the Conference, to continue at professional level the official discussions begun in 1960 on the major problems of their respective sectors; that they have also expressed the wish to be kept fully informed on the progress made by the Government Experts;
3. Believing that this consultation will undoubtedly ease the task of Governments, by clarifying the position of the professional circles; that, moreover, the Conference will enhance the prestige of the Council of Europe, whose initiative has already aroused wide interest in member countries,
4. Recommends to the Committee of Ministers that it make the necessary financial arrangements to enable the Committee of Government Experts to meet more frequently as urgently requested by the National Associations.
