The Assembly,
1. Having learnt that a European Refugee Campaign 1966 is being organised by the voluntary agencies, chiefly for refugees in Africa and Asia ;
2. Noting that this Campaign fills a genuine need and that it is supported by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees ;
3. Considering that this action is likely to raise substantial funds which will help to finance permanent solutions for refugees both inside and outside Europe ;
4. Noting that the voluntary agencies have entrusted the practical conduct of the Campaign to a working party under the Chairmanship of H.R.H. the Prince of the Netherlands ;
5. Observing that a large number of European countries, including most member States of the Council of Europe, are keen to contribute to the success of the European Refugee Campaign 1966 ;
6. Congratulates the voluntary agencies on this generous venture which will be launched on 24th October 1966, the day which the United Nations General Assembly has dedicated to refugees ;
7. Requests its members to make every effort in their own countries to promote the success of this purely humanitarian cause.
