1 Report of the Committee on the Election of Judges to the European Court of Human Rights

The Committee on the Election of Judges to the European Court of Human Rights held a meeting in Paris on 4 and 5 April 2024, first with Ms Petra BAYR (Austria, SOC), then Mr Corneliu-Mugurel COZMANCIUC (Romania, EPP/CD), and then again Ms Petra BAYR in the Chair.

The committee assessed the lists of the candidates to the Court in respect of Latvia, Liechtenstein, Austria, Monaco and Ireland.Note

2.1 Latvia

The committee interviewed all the candidates on 4 April 2024.

The committee recommends to the Assembly, by a large majority, Mr Artūrs KUČS as the most qualified candidate.

2.2 Liechtenstein

The committee interviewed all the candidates on 4 April 2024.

The committee recommends to the Assembly, by a narrow majority, Ms Catherine REITER as the most qualified candidate, over Mr Alain CHABLAIS.

2.3 Austria

The committee decided to postpone until a later date its decision on the recommendation to the Assembly concerning this list.

2.4 Monaco

The committee decided to postpone until a later date its decision on the recommendation to the Assembly concerning this list.

2.5 Ireland

The committee interviewed all the candidates on 5 April 2024.

The committee recommends to the Assembly, by a large majority, Ms Úna NÍ RAIFEARTAIGH as the most qualified candidate.
