What are we hearing here? What is behind the words? What is behind the actions? That is what we need to look at. I have had to listen to statements by Russian colleagues and apparently the Europeans asked for this because they couldn't manage without the money. That's what the Russians are saying. A main principle of the Council of Europe is to support national minorities and indigenous peoples. We are all different, with different languages, traditions, cultures and religions. That is precisely our advantage; those differences make us strong, versatile and bright. When we speak from heart to heart, we find a common language – no matter what it is – on the basis of European values and human rights. These young guys went to defend their homeland, knowing that their mission was to defend their country and European values – the Council of Europe’s values. For a long time, we have been looking for a medicine for aggression and occupation of territories, and for something that will help to preserve peace. Maybe the solution is to call a spade a spade.
