Speaking at the 10th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Youth in Valletta on 9 October, PACE President Theodoros Rousopoulos called on Ministers to integrate youth perspectives into every policy and to move from participation to co-decision-making,“ in order to give young people not only a voice, but also the power to influence outcomes”.

It is essential to “equip ministries and institutions with the tools to turn ambitions into tangible results,” he said, emphasising the importance of education and inclusion, because “every young person, from every background, must feel part of the democratic conversation.”

“Democracy begins in the classroom and at home, in civic engagement, in the daily practice of dialogue. It will continue to grow through youth education, inclusion and participation,” President Rousopoulos concluded.
