PACE President Petra Bayr, accompanied by the members of the PACE Presidential Committee - comprising the Chairpersons of the five PACE political groups and PACE Secretary General Despina Chatzivassiliou - today held an exchange of views with Nikos Christodoulides, the President of Cyprus, on current political issues, particularly on the situation in the Middle East and its implications for Europe.
“In the current volatile political context, Europe must play an active role in preserving and safeguarding the international rules-based order,” the participants emphasised.
The President of Cyprus praised PACE’s work in this context and also highlighted PACE’s important role in supporting efforts aimed at the reunification of Cyprus.
In addition, the PACE President expressed her gratitude to the members of the Cypriot delegation to PACE for their active and valuable contribution to the Assembly’s activities.
Mr Christodoulides and Ms Bayr concluded the meeting by reiterating their unwavering support for Ukraine.
