Liliana Tanguy (France, ALDE), co-rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the post-monitoring dialogue with Montenegro, will make a fact-finding visit to the country from 9 to 12 June.

During her visit to Podgorica, Ms Tanguy will assess the progress made by Montenegro in implementing the recommendations set out in the latest PACE Resolution. Discussions will focus mainly on the political situation, the balance of power, the effectiveness of the judicial system, the fight against corruption and media freedom, and on minority rights.

The rapporteur is due to meet the Prime Minister (to be confirmed), the Speaker of Parliament, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Relations, the Minister for European Affairs, and the Minister for Security and the Interior.

Meetings are also scheduled with representatives of parliamentary groups of the majority and the opposition, the Chairperson and members of the delegation of Montenegro to PACE, the Ombudsperson and the President of the Constitutional Court, as well as with representatives of the international and diplomatic community, and civil society.

The Parliamentary Assembly decided to close the full monitoring procedure in respect of Montenegro in January 2015 and engage in a post-monitoring dialogue with the country, a less intensive procedure involving a limited number of remaining issues to be addressed.
