North Macedonia: PACE General Rapporteur welcomes the adoption of the revised Code of Conduct for members of Parliament

“The adoption by the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia of the revised Code of Ethical Conduct is an important step towards strengthening ethics, integrity and accountability in parliamentary life. It reflects a strong commitment to transparency and good governance and will help reinforce public trust in democratic institutions,” the General Rapporteur on ethical standards and anti-corruption, Sergiy Vlasenko (Ukraine, EPP/CD) said.

The General Rapporteur noted that PACE had closely followed this process through its project “Strengthening Ethics and Integrity in Parliaments” and welcomed the successful completion of the Code’s revision, carried out in co-operation with OSCE-ODIHR.

Last September, the Rules Committee organised with OSCE-ODIHR a study visit to the Houses of Parliament in London for parliamentarians of North Macedonia to consider how parliaments can develop effective codes of ethics.
