A parliamentary round table on the topic Fake ‘elections’ in Russia: what next? will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday 28 September, on the margins of the Assembly’s Autumn plenary session in Strasbourg, livestreamed via the Assembly’s YouTube channel.
The event is organised by the PACE Platform for Dialogue with Russian Democratic Forces, in co-operation with PACE's Political Affairs Committee and its Parliamentary Alliance for Free and Fair Elections, and will be moderated by former BBC journalist David Eades.
Following an introduction by Russian political scientist Ekaterina Schulmann, the round table will focus – among other issues – on the framework for the recent “elections” to the Russian State Duma, the political context, grassroots movements in Russia today and the situation of ethnic groups and national minorities.
The Platform was created to enable two-way exchanges between Russian democratic forces in exile and leading members of the Assembly on issues of common concern.

Practical information
The event takes place from 1-3 p.m. on Monday 28 September in Room 1 of the Palais de l’Europe in Strasbourg. It will be livestreamed in English on the Assembly’s YouTube channel via this link. Any media wishing to attend in person must hold Council of Europe accreditation, which can be requested via this page, and additionally request access by writing to the PACE Communication Division at [email protected] by 5 p.m. on Friday 25 September. Media cannot ask questions during the round table, but may have an opportunity to meet participants after the event.
