Strasbourg, 08.11.2007 - Following the declaration of a nationwide state of emergency by Georgia's President Mikhail Saakashvili, Matyas Eorsi (Hungary, ALDE) and Kastriot Islami (Albania, SOC), co-rapporteurs for Georgia of the Monitoring Committee of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), will make a snap visit to Tbilisi from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 November to assess the situation on the spot.
They are expected to meet with high-ranking government officials, members of the parliamentary majority and opposition, media representatives and ambassadors.
A press conference is scheduled on Saturday 10 November at noon at the premises of the Council of Europe office (I.Chavchavadze ave. 2nd lane, 3a building).
