12/09/2008 Monitoring
Strasbourg, 12.09.2008 - Jaakko Laakso (Finland, UEL) and David Wilshire (United Kingdom, EDG), co-rapporteurs for Albania of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), will be undertaking a fact-finding visit to the country, from 15 to 18 September, to review its compliance with its obligations and commitments vis-à-vis the Council of Europe.
Meetings are scheduled with, among others, the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of Parliament, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, the Interior and Justice and representatives of the different political parties and civil society. The co-rapporteurs will also be meeting representatives of the local authorities in Vlora and Shijak, as well as representatives of the Greek and Bosnian minorities.
