PACE President Lluís Maria de Puig yesterday completed an official three-day tour of Tunisia during which he outlined to the Tunisian authorities the "partner for democracy” status, which is due to be debated in the Assembly at the next part-session and will cover countries including the southern Mediterranean ones.
The visit to Tunisia was the last leg of Mr de Puig’s official tour of the Maghreb countries. He talked to the Prime Minister, Mohamed Ghannouchi, the Minister for Women, Families, Children and the Elderly, Sarra Kanoun Jarraya, the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Bechir Tekkari, and the Minister of Youth, Sport and Physical Education, Samir Labidi. He also met the Speaker of the Chamber of Counsellors Abdellah Kallel and the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Fouad Mebazaâ, who invited him.
