25/10/2011 Election observation
Strasbourg, 25.10.2011 - A five-member Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) delegation headed by Nursuna Memecan (Turkey, ALDE) will travel to the Kyrgyz Republic from 27 to 31 October to observe the presidential election alongside observers from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the European Parliament and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
The delegation will meet, in particular, the candidates in the election (or their representatives), the Chair of the Central Electoral Commission and NGO and media representatives before deploying across the country to observe the conduct of the election on 30 October.
A press conference is scheduled for Monday 31 October (Hyatt Regency Bishkek, 191 Abdrahmanov Street, Bishkek; time to be confirmed).
