PACE to observe the parliamentary elections in Russia

Strasbourg, 28.11.2011 – A 34-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), headed by Tiny Kox (Netherlands, UEL), will visit the Russian Federation from 1 to 5 December to observe the conduct of the parliamentary elections, alongside observers from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the OSCE and the Nordic Council.

The delegation is due to meet the Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission Vladimir Churov, representatives of the political parties running in the election, NGOs and the media, as well as representatives of the civil society groups denied registration as political parties, before observing the ballot on 4 December.
