PACE delegation to make post-electoral visit to Russia

04.04.2012 – A six-member delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is to make a post-electoral visit to Moscow from 11 to 13 April 2012, following Russia’s Presidential election.

The delegation – made up of one member from each of the Assembly’s five political groups as well as one of the two rapporteurs for the monitoring of Russia – is due to meet the Speaker of the State Duma Serguei Naryshkin and the Chair of the Central Election Commission Vladimir Churov.

Meetings are also foreseen with the country’s leading authorities, the leaders of the political parties represented in the Duma, other non-parliamentary parties and political organisations, as well as the members of the Russian delegation to PACE.

The Parliamentary Assembly is due to discuss a report on the observation of the Presidential election on 23 April 2012 during its spring plenary session in Strasbourg.

Members of the post-electoral delegation will give a press conference at 4 p.m. on Friday 13 April at the Interfax news agency in Moscow.
